"Tasty. Smart. Charming-- I'm talking about Mark Christian Miller's show yesterday afternoon at Birds of a Feather He was in support of his excellent new album and his set was all those things and more. I especially loved his lovely sustained notes on the little done Mercer classic "Dream" and his swingers. He managed to make the Devil in Oscar Brown Jr's "Mr Kicks" into a nice guy (not an easy feat)- but maybe that was just the devil foolin' with us-- but a nice guy who can swing. Josh Nelson's arrangement to Ned Rorem's tone poem "Early in the Morning" was stunning-- and Mark delivered the quite ambitious wordless vocalese at the end beautifully. Oh did I mention that Mark was very funny-- and the band was wonderful. It was lovely to see him perform-- he does it too infrequently. Altogether a lovely Sunday afternoon."  Mark Winkler
