Corniche Entertainment is proud to once again curate this unique series under the oaks at beautiful Descanso Gardens in La Canada!

This year’s series once again runs eight consecutive Thursday nights starting June 6th, from 6 to 7:30.  Please check their website for ticketing and other information.  There is plenty of free parking.  Lawn seating is on a first come basis.  Bring a blanket, picnic, lawn chair, bottle of wine.  Food and beverage also available for purchase.

Descanso Gardens Events

June 6th – Louie Cruz Beltran  Back by popular demand, Louie kicks off the 2019 series with superb percussive skills, musicianship, energy and humor!  Louie is proud to include Descanso Gardens in his busy summer schedule as one of the most in demand band leaders in the region.

June 13th – The Katie Thiroux  Trio Bassist and vocalist Katie Thiroux is one of the most in demand touring musicians in jazz, and is currently working with the brilliant Justin Kauflin, a Quincy Jones protege and subject of the award winning documentary “Keep On Keepin’ On,” which chronicles his musical and personal relationship with the late great Clark Terry.

June 20th – Yuko Mabuchi.  Yuko’s sparkling technique, combined with a natural gift for showmanship, recalls the greats of yesterday like Dorothy Donegan and Hazel Scott, while retaining her own fresh, contemporary approach.  She is a sensational and captivating pianist who consistently treats her audience to the highest quality of jazz performance.

June 27th – Mon David.  A master of jazz vocals, Mon remains one of the most inventive and creative singers on the LA scene, and performs with a deep connection to his material.  Mon combines  authentic musicianship and stagecraft with exceptional skill at both vocal improvisation and the interpretation of lyrics.

July 4th – Lao Tizer  Busy touring keyboardist and bandleader Lao Tizer stops off at Descanso to present a special July 4th show of jazz, jazz fusion and original music. A child prodigy, Lao’s  career now spans nine albums over nearly a quarter of a century.

July 11th – Abe Lagrimas, Jr.  This gifted multi-instrumentalist will be entertaining on drums and ukulele, and he dazzles on both. Abe Lagrimas, Jr. is a musician, composer, educator, and author,  studied at Berklee College of Music and competed in the highly prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Drums Competition.

July 18th – Molly Miller  Since Dr. Molly Miller picked up a guitar at age seven, she’s been captivating audiences with her sophisticated and raw style.  She’s one of LA’s most sought after musicians, recording and touring with artists such as Jason Mraz and The Black Eyed Peas;

July 25th – Dayren Santamaria  A charismatic performer well-schooled in styles spanning classical music, jazz, R&B, salsa, and Cuban folkloric music, Dayren has earned praise from appreciative fans for her passionate renditions of works on both acoustic and electric violin.
